About Tradie Scaler

Built by a tradie.
For every trade.

In 2018, I was lying on the floor of a lodge in Pucon, Chile. I'd taken a bad fall from height on a mountain — compressed my spine twelve millimetres. At one point I lost the use of my legs. I was smashing painkillers and pisco sours trying to get on top of the pain.

My first thought wasn't about whether I could walk again. It was about the business.

I had a brand new Ford Transit Custom being freighted across from Victoria. I had plans to roll out a second crew on my return. And now I was lying on the floor in South America, unable to move, wondering what the hell was going to happen to all of it.

That tells you something about what it means to run a trade business. The business isn't separate from your life. It is your life. One event — an injury, a key client walking, a key staff member leaving — and the whole thing is exposed. Most trade business owners carry that weight every single day. They've just never had their Chile moment yet.

The $2,000 a Month Lesson

I came home physically broken but completely obsessed with fixing the business. My thinking at the time was entirely demand-focused — more leads, more vans, more revenue, get off the tools. So I started spending $2,000 a month on business coaching.

That coaching started exactly the same way the Strategy Builder starts with you: with a full diagnostic. A complete look at every system in the business. How my time was being spent. Where the money was going. What the numbers were actually saying versus what I thought they were saying.

It was confronting. It was also the most valuable thing I had ever done for my business.

The methodology built into Tradie Scaler is built directly from that process — the same framework, the same way of identifying constraints, the same diagnostic that told me exactly which problem to solve first.

The difference is that it cost me $2,000 a month to go through it.

Here it's free.

Who This Platform Is Actually For

Most platforms that claim to help tradespeople only ever talk to the same handful of trades. Plumbing. Electrical. HVAC. Maybe building.

What about the tiler? The stump grinder? The grease trap cleaner? The arborist? The backflow prevention tester who manages 300+ annual schedules from a spreadsheet because nobody has ever built them anything better?

Tradie Scaler covers 57 distinct trade and service niches across Australia. Because a mould remediator and an electrician have completely different businesses — different revenue models, different cashflow rhythms, different pain points. The advice that fixes one makes no difference to the other. Every trade is treated as the specific business it is. That's what tailored actually means.

Gutter Cleaning
High volume, low ticket — every inefficiency is multiplied across 15 jobs per day.
Arborist / Tree Service
Council permit delays — operator bears full mobilisation cost with no compensation.
Backflow Prevention
Managing 300+ annual test schedules manually — it becomes a full-time admin role.
Grease Trap Cleaning
Client pushes frequency out to save money. Overflow happens. Operator gets blamed.
Line Marking
Recurring commercial contracts are the model — but initial vs repaint pricing is invisible to clients.
Mould Remediation
If the moisture source isn't fixed, the mould returns — and the remediator gets blamed.
Steel Fabrication
Drawing revisions after steel is cut — variation disputes on every significant project.
Marine & Boat Servicing
Seasonal pre-summer surge — operators who didn't get booked early lose the whole season.
Stump Grinding
Flat-rate quoting on stumps larger than described over the phone — consistent margin risk.

How the Strategy Builder Works

The centrepiece of Tradie Scaler is the free Strategy Builder — a 15–20 minute business diagnostic that tells you exactly which problem to solve first.

It asks about six areas of your business: the basics, your current constraint, your lead flow and sales process, your pricing and profitability, your tech stack, and your cashflow. No preparation needed. Answer honestly as you know it.

What comes back is a custom roadmap: your dominant constraint identified, your pricing benchmarked against the national average for your trade, the gaps in your tech stack, and the 3–5 highest-leverage changes to make right now.

1
Strategy Builder
15 minutes. 6 sections. Custom roadmap returned by email.
2
Implement
Your 3–5 highest-leverage moves. Work through them one at a time.
3
Quarterly Tune-Up
90 days on. Updated plan. Factors in what you've built — and what your existing tools can already do.

Then, 90 days later, the Quarterly Tune-Up brings you back. You share what you've implemented, where the numbers are now, and what tools you're currently using. The updated plan factors in what's already working — and often finds that the next improvement isn't a new subscription at all, but a feature in something you're already paying for.

How We Make Money — And Why That Matters

Tradie Scaler is free for every operator. It always will be.

We earn a commission when you purchase a tool we've recommended. That's it. No subscriptions, no consulting fees, no premium tiers.

Here's why this structure matters: if we recommend the wrong tool and you cancel it, our commission stops. Every commercial incentive points toward recommending solutions that actually solve your problem and that you continue to use. It's the only business model that makes complete alignment between us possible.

The tools recommended on this platform are the tools we'd recommend if we were sitting across from you at your kitchen table. Not the ones with the highest commissions. The ones that fix the actual problem.
